Plagiarism

Acta Monetaria: Journal of Economic and Business is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. We recognize the importance of preventing plagiarism and ensuring that all submitted manuscripts are original works.

Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism refers to the act of using someone else's work, ideas, or words without proper acknowledgment or permission. This includes copying text, data, figures, or any other content from sources without proper citation or referencing. Plagiarism also includes self-plagiarism, where an author reuses their own previously published work without proper citation or permission.

Turnitin Similarity Check
As part of our commitment to maintaining academic integrity, we use Turnitin to screen all submitted manuscripts for potential plagiarism. Manuscripts will be checked for similarities against a wide range of academic sources and previously published work.

Plagiarism Threshold
We allow a maximum similarity of 20% on Turnitin. If the similarity index exceeds this threshold, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision, clarification, or proper citation. Authors are expected to ensure that their work is thoroughly checked for plagiarism and properly cited before submission.

Actions on Identified Plagiarism
If a manuscript is found to contain significant plagiarism, the following actions will be taken:

  • Minor Plagiarism: If a manuscript shows a similarity index above 20% but is deemed to have minor issues (such as improper citation or paraphrasing), the author will be asked to revise and resubmit the manuscript with corrections.

  • Serious Plagiarism: If a manuscript contains substantial plagiarism (e.g., large portions of text copied directly from other sources or self-plagiarized material without citation), the manuscript will be rejected outright, and the author may be prohibited from submitting future work to the journal.

  • Retraction: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be retracted, and a retraction notice will be issued. The author’s affiliation and other relevant details will be updated as needed.

Author Responsibility
It is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure that their manuscript is free from plagiarism before submission. Authors should properly cite all sources of information, data, and ideas that are not their own. Any use of quotations, paraphrases, or references to other authors’ works should be done in compliance with the citation style required by the journal.
